The
United Kingdom government has launched a new visa policy aimed at
ensuring the UK healthcare system has access to the best doctors,
nurses and other medical practitioners from all over the world.This announcement was made by the Home Secretary and Secretary of State
for Health Care Services and the new Health Care and Visa is
scheduled to kick off this summer.
This Visa policy provides a new
fast-track visa route for qualified health workers and is "designed
to make it easier and quicker for best global health professionals to
work in the NHS".
According to the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, “ This new visa is part of our new immigration system making it quicker, cheaper and easier for the best and brightest health and care professionals from around the globe to work in our brilliant NHS. “
This decision by the government might not be too far from being influenced by the current state of things in the country with regards to the pandemic. The UK since the outbreak of the Corona Virus has recorded over 297,000 confirmed cases and 45,000 deaths. And currently, the daily numbers of newly confirmed cases and deaths are averaged at 770 and 123 respectively.(Source: click here )
